The ICOM IC-A120E VHF aviation radio with 8.33/25 kHz channel spacing is an air-to-ground communication station designed for mobile use, featuring active noise-cancelling technology and an optional Bluetooth module!
The dot-matrix display of the radio is highly readable, making it easy to distinguish characters and symbols. Users can effortlessly configure memory channels and other settings via the front panel controls. The newly available ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) feature reduces background noise from both transmitted and received signals. This function is particularly useful at airports where engine noise can significantly disrupt radio communication. The Automatic Noise Limiter (ANL) helps reduce impulse noise, such as that caused by vehicle ignitions. However, the ANL and ANC functions cannot be used simultaneously.
If the optional UT-133A Bluetooth unit is installed in the IC-A120E, the radio can wirelessly connect to third-party Bluetooth headsets. When using the optional ICOM Bluetooth headset VS-3, the monitor function is also available. The ICOM IC-A120E is IP54-rated for protection against dust and water, making it suitable for installation on open vehicles without a roof.
When the microphone is placed in its holder and the corresponding function is enabled, the scan mode is activated automatically. Alternatively, the Dualwatch function can be set to activate when the microphone is docked. Once the microphone is removed from the holder, the scan stops, depending on the preprogrammed settings, either on the priority channel or the channel displayed on the screen.
The radio offers a total of 200 memory channels, each with up to 12-character names.

The IC-A120E complies with EN 300676 and can therefore be used as a ground station (excluding air traffic control services).
